Typing, Music and Plans

Helped James with some typing for Growing Alliances and then we both listened to some Andreas Scholl singing both Vivaldi's  and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and watched again the Il Giardino Armonico Dieupart Baroque Dance videos. James' comments were so funny : )

Had a really good sleep last night (was in bed at 8.30 pm) and woke up refreshed and happy.

Probably going to the farm tomorrow, late in the evening.  Will be too late for church, but might go and visit the minister and his wife (bearing gifts).

All the best!

Philippe Jaroussky: Sperai vicino il lido (Gluck)

Did I obtain benefit?
Yes.
Do I want more?

Baroque Music

Got quite a good lot of recorder music now. Waiting for instruments to arrive. Really love music again : )  Thanks, Kaspar Mainz ; )

How to find recorder players near Belfast/Bangor?

Sewing and sowing

Quite a nice day!  First to sewing class and pinning of the pattern and cutting of the fabric, flowing quite fine.  Nice to make some progress on that garment.  The tail (liripipe) is about 3 or more feet long, you know!  Quite intricate to cut the scalloped edge.

Then off to 3rd installment of the Alpha Course (missed last week due to engrossment in shopping!). More friendly this week but unable to answer some questions. I don't expect them to be able to answer them, as their religion does not present this information, but quite fun anyway.  The video a bit boring.

And where is the promised "big feed"?!  Coffee and shortbread once again, oh well, I suppose one should be grateful!

Hungry now. What to eat?

Arcadie

I wish I could just step into another room : )

La Grotte, in another time, Arcadie where nothing is mandatory, how sweet!  Free of all concerns, a surfeit of paradise and peace. No concerns ... Arcadie.

This land of sweetness, sublime, dreamy, peaceful, elegant ... let me go there!

Open up the gates of Arcadie!

Even to dream of you releases me, inexplicably.

Jochen Kowalski, countertenor, Handel: Ombra mai fu

One of my favourite (if not ~the~ favourite) countertenors is Andreas Scholl, but I'm still looking to introduce and reacquaint myself with others, such as Michael Chance and James Bowman et al.

Living with your cat nicely : )

Ha! And from the same websitethis stunning cat-owner confidence and camaraderie video.

Nice!

So cute!

Surprise : ) I was reading this nice blog and suddenly this adoreable video appeared on my screen.

Enjoy!

Expectation is the root of all heartache.

Expectation is the root of all heartache.~
 William Shakespeare

This is the Shakespeare quote of the day courtesy of of the Shakespeare gadget installed on my blog and I must say, I have to concur.  And how useful to remind myself of it!
For some reason, maybe based on long past experience - childhood up to the age of 18 or so - I expected amazing things of my life and when it did not materialize and its inverse did instead, it was very disappointing.  So, what easier way to erase the heartache than to displace the expectation with none?

Facebook: OK, Bye

I've given up playing almost all games on Facebook, for the reason that they are so time-consuming and drag unnecessarily so much.  For example, it takes ~ages~ to acquire all the necessary components via gifting from neighbours and suchlike to accomplish even the slightest thing and often to little advantage.  Compare this to store-bought games and the fast pace achievable and the advantages are obvious.  Facebook also keeps the FB games user on a form of tenterhooks by stick and by carrot: offering incentives for logging in regularly and disincentives for failing to do so, and I'm quite glad to be freed of that tension.

One exception remains : Gourmet Ranch.  This is quite a sweet little game (it hasn't yet been contaminated by gifting, but I suppose that's just a matter of time).  It's undemanding and quite rewarding, as long as you don't invest too much time in it.

I'm quite glad to be out of the whole Facebook scene now generally as it was often too emotive in terms of the uncontrollable encountering of other users' opinions, rants, drama and complaints.  It was frequently detrimental to my peace of mind, and therefore more bother than it was worth.  Never mind all that clicking just to access and keep on top of a few measly "gifts".  So that's all gone by the way, thankfully.

The one thing it is useful for is receiving messages from a few select people I know, and I will keep my account for that almost sole reason.
